Apple’s The Morning Show trailer brings Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell back to TV

The cutthroat world of morning news television gets a space on the small screen

The Morning Show is the most star-studded venture coming to Apple TV Plus, and the first full trailer for the show relishes in the star power.

Inspired by Brian Stelter’s Top of the Morning — a non-fiction book detailing a behind-the-scenes look at the world of morning TV — The Morning Show is a comedic drama slated for two seasons. Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell star as the anchors of the fictional morning show, with Billy Crudup (Almost Famous) as Cory Ellison, a forward-thinking network news executive, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror) as Hannah Shoenfeld, the head booker of talent.

The Morning Show is one of many Apple originals coming to the new streaming service. Along with other drama offerings such as an upcoming adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s Pachinko, Apple plans to roll out a reboot of ’80s Steven Spielberg sci-fi anthology series Amazing Stories; a Sofia Coppola movie starring Bill Murray; an experimental French series that uses minimal visuals and unorthodox audio; and a basketball-heavy series inspired by the early days of Kevin Durant, among many, many others. Apple previously released the trailer for For All Mankind, a space race drama series set in an alternate universe written by Ronald Moore (Battlestar Galactica).
