With Destiny 2: Shadowkeep this fall, Bungie will take players back to the original Destiny’s moon to face old foes. Bungie has been quiet regarding the story, but the studio revealed a new cinematic at GamesCom Opening Night Live on Monday.
The cinematic shows off the Vex — time-traveling robots with a singular hive mind — preparing for a new war. As Eris Morn is finding old monsters for players to encounter on the Moon, the Vex are lining up a powerful onslaught to protect the Black Garden.
The new trailer gives a brief look at the creation of the Vex and how they’re filled with their signature “Vex Milk.” Some key narrative from Warlock Vanguard Ikora Rey makes it clear that the Vex are building their forces for a war against the Guardians. This is all separate from Destiny 2: Shadowkeep as part of Season of the Undying.
Bungie will release Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and New Light for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on Oct. 1. The Google Stadia version of Destiny 2 will come later this year. Season of the Undying will also arrive alongside Shadowkeep to keep players busy until Season 9.
