Dota 2’s next hero is Snapfire, a grandma with a shotgun

Who wants some cookies?

The International, the largest Dota 2 tournament of the year, is underway in Shanghai. There’s already a lot to be excited about, including a prize pool of over 30 million dollars. One of the biggest surprises came in a small, unexpected package. Meet Snapfire, the next hero coming to Dota 2 this fall.

Snapfire has a giant lizard friend, loves to bake cookies, and has lots of unexpected firepower. She joins characters like Ana from Overwatch and Helen from Watch Dogs Legion in the category of incredibly badass old ladies who carry a gun and take no attitude.

Snapfire’s trailer also shows off what some of her abilities might look like in game. Those cookies she was baking aren’t just for show; it looks like she’s able to distribute them to allies. That doesn’t mean she’s necessarily pure support; she also shows off an impressive amount of firepower, including a gout of flame from her dragon.

We don’t have an exact release date for Snapfire yet, but it’s extremely satisfying to watch her straight up murder Batrider and her nephew Timbersaw in her teaser trailer. It’s great to get more older ladies in gaming, and Snapfire makes a worthy addition to the gang.
