Teaser reveals next game in Dark Pictures Anthology

Little Hope, either the name of a spooky town or the prognosis for its victims

As its title suggests, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is the first in a series of narrative games. We already know what its sequel is, a day before the game is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.

It’s The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope. See for yourself in the teaser that follows the game. Little Hope seems to be your prototypical spooky small town where a mysterious evil thing drags folks to their doom while someone eerily covers a Simon & Garfunkel song.

The Dark Pictures Anthology is an interactive horror series, and its first offering plays to the scary-movie instinct to tell the monster’s hapless quarry not to open that door. The first game, Man of Medan, is set at sea aboard a ghost ship. The games in the series aren’t connected narratively, so players can drop in at any time or play them out of order without missing anything.

We praised developer Supermassive Games for its adept presentation of bona fide scares in Man of Medan. The mystery inside its story fell short of the clues left for players, however, and many of the decisions seemed to have arbitrary outcomes. But if you lose someone in your party of adventurers/victims, the story will shift and the choices will change based on the size of the group.
