The upcoming world-building epic See stars Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa. And who better to ride the wave of Apple TV Plus’ Nov. 1 release? Tim Cook presented the first trailer for the series, which is expected to premiere as a launch title.
See revolves around a hypothetical future where humanity has lost its sense of sight, a trend we continue to see in media after the success of A Quiet Place and Bird Box. (What sense will be eliminated next?) In See, society has adapted, learning how to survive, interact, hunt, and live without being able to see. This new way of life, however, is challenged when a set of twins is born with sight. What happens next? We’ll find out in the 10 episode season.
Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss, a fearless leader and warrior. Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave) joins along with Mortal Engines star Hera Hilmar and Dexter’s Christian Camargo.
See, written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games films), is one of many Apple originals coming to the new streaming service. Along with other sci-fi offerings such as an upcoming Foundation series, Apple plans to roll out a musical comedy from the creators of Bob’s Burgers, an animated film from Cartoon Saloon, a rom-com series featuring original music by Sara Bareilles, and an anthology about immigrant life in America from the writers of The Big Sick among many, many others.
