Untitled Goose Game speedrunner beats the game in under 4 minutes

The devil with the fast, orange feet

Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

House House released Untitled Goose Game a matter of days ago, and speedrunners have already mastered the title. On Monday afternoon, speed runner MonkeyKingHero managed to post the first sub-seven minute run.

Untitled Goose Game isn’t a long experience — even if you aren’t speedrunning — and took some Polygon staffers about three hours to tackle their first time through. Seven minutes is quite an improvement on that, and a lot of speedrunning progress to make in only a few days.

The speedrun starts as the titular goose emerges from the bush, and ends when they return the miniature bell back to their nest. It’s worth noting that this playthrough utilizes multiple glitches to speed up the game. The goose clips through a few different fences during the run, and mainlines the quest from start to finish. There are, of course, spoilers.

Everyone has a story about a bad encounter with a goose, nature’s great mistake. Untitled Goose Game creates new opportunities for players to explore the goose-filled countryside as the devil itself — tormenting villagers and generally just being an asshole to people enjoying their day.

With a seven-minute finish already on the clock, it’s likely that players will continue to break the record for the next week or so.

Update: The goose cannot and will not stop. A new run from Seij nearly halves MonkeyKingHero’s time, coming in at 3:46. Check out the video below for Seij’s brief but action-packed run.
