Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the latest addition to the storied Call of Duty franchise, isn’t out yet. The game is being played in beta, which means that the developers still have time to fine tune balance, work out kinks, and ensure that everything is ship shape.
One thing that I absolutely hope they do not address is the fast melee perk, which pro streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek showed off in a recent stream. Even shroud himself seems shocked at what he pulled off.
When edited by a fan into a montage set to the Mortal Kombat theme, the true potential of the fast melee perk becomes apparently immediately. This is no small speed increase; it’s enough to turn a normal soldier into a fast-punching, quick-stabbing melee machine. Some people may think that’s slightly overtuned; I think it’s incredible. If you’re going to bring a knife to gun fight, you might as well make sure you can spin it right quick.
The game’s beta has since concluded, but Activision is set to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Oct. 25. The game was developed by longtime Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward.
