Everyone’s talking about The Masked Singer, the American version of a hit Korean competition show where celebrities in elaborate costumes sing in front of a panel of judges who have to guess who they are. Everyone’s specifically talking about The Masked Singer this week because of a very surprising celebrity reveal.
The two eliminated celebrities this week were revealed to be figure skater Johnny Weir and Tyler Blevins, aka Ninja. Yes, that Ninja, the Twitch streamer turned Mixer streamer who’s really good at Fortnite and also has a book out.
Performing as Ice Cream, Ninja sang a cover of Devo’s “Whip It,” as well as Lil Nas X’s viral sensation “Old Town Road,” as seen in the clip above. The best part is when Ken Jeong says “Not a trained singer!” because, as we know, Ninja’s skill lies in totally KO’ing his Fortnite opponents, not crooning about horses in the back.
Unfortunately, Ninja’s less-than-stellar pipes meant he was eliminated and his identity revealed, as shown in the video below.
“Gamer, Twitch superstar, and YouTuber!” shouts Nick Cannon, who clearly has not read the announcement that Ninja now exclusively streams on Mixer.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ninja revealed that he does, indeed, have little professional singing experience.
“I’ve been doing a lot of karaoke at my house the last two years, but other than that, my singing expertise and history is in the show and in my car on long drives,” he said. He also revealed that he mostly did this show for his wife, who is a huge fan. That’s sweet.
