Ahead of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield’s Nov. 15 release date, The Pokémon Company is hosting a 24-hour stream to reveal “surprising” information about the game’s world.
The Sword and Shield stream will begin at 6 a.m. PDT on Oct. 4 and broadcast footage from “a camera” set up in a Galar-region forest called Glimwood Tangle. The static image on Twitch and YouTube shows the forest through a night vision lens, with Glimwood Tangle’s lush foliage and large mushrooms in view. The Sword and Shield website displays a message from Sonia, a research assistant for Professor Magnolia — Sword and Shield’s new professor from the Galar region. (Naturally, Sonia is also Professor Magnolia’s granddaughter.)
My name’s Sonia, and I’m a Pokémon researcher. Here in Galar, I’m always helping out with research for my gran—Professor Magnolia, that is!
I’m sending this message because I could really use your help with some research I’m doing.
Next week, a camera will be set up in a strange forest here in Galar known as Glimwood Tangle, and the camera will begin broadcasting live footage.
The broadcast will last for 24 hours! If you could take a gander when you have time, that’d be just great. Thanks in advance!
The livestream is expected to showcase Pokémon from the Galar region, giving fans a peek at their behavior, among other things. A note on the Sword and Shield website says that viewers may see things that “surprise” them — hinting at new information, perhaps new Pokémon, evolutions, or moves, to be revealed during the stream. (The website also has a disclaimer that the footage will not be directly from the game.)
No doubt Pokémon fans will be scouring the 24-hour stream for any new details from Sword and Shield, running off fumes from the last big announcement — that “Wild Duck” Pokémon Farfetch’d will finally evolve in Sword and Shield.
