As summer winds down and we enter fall, the entertainment landscape shifts. Streaming and broadcast TV shows debut or return. Superhero summer fare gives way to Oscar award-season fodder and holiday blockbusters. Comics books and anime continue to be great.

But this year, everything seems particularly busier. Disney Plus is launching in November with The Mandalorian. Apple TV Plus is rumored for this fall, too — so much streaming, and that’s before a handful of major competitors debut next year. Netflix has its own Game of Thrones coming in the form of The Witcher. We’ve got a hybrid superhero / award bait movie with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. A trilogy of Star Wars trilogies is ending with The Rise of Skywalker.
