Pokémon studio’s new RPG Little Town Hero has music by Undertale’s Toby Fox

The new game from the developers of Pokémon is all about battling with ideas

Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo showed off new footage of Little Town Hero, a new RPG from Game Freak, the creators of Pokémon. In the trailer for Little Town Hero, Nintendo revealed details the game’s story, and showed more gameplay.

Citizens of the little town aren’t allowed to leave. When monsters start to invade, players will need to take up the mantle of a small hero named Axe who is trying to protect everything he knows. Players need to defend their townspeople to discover the secrets hidden under their tiny town.

Little Town Hero is a turn based RPG, where players use “ideas” to fight invading monsters. Players can also enlist the help of villagers mid-battle to defend the town and defeat monsters. Heroes will battle giant sheep and horrifying goats with their bladed shield.

Nintendo also took a moment to confirm that most of Little Town Hero’s music is by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale.

The new game from the developers of Pokémon will hit Nintendo Switch on Oct. 16
