With the bush fires ongoing in Australia, some game companies are putting relief efforts together via purchase of in-game items or games themselves. Bungie, the developers of Destiny 2, are doing one better — an in- and out-of-game reward.
In a blog post on its website, the studio announced the new “Guardians for Australia” shirt. The shirt features the classic Guardian spaceship flying over some kangaroos on a hot plain — with the Destiny symbol on the corner of the shirt, seen above. Bungie is selling the shirt as a fundraiser for firefighting and animal rescue/conservation efforts in Australia.

Like most Bungie store purchases, the shirt comes with an in-game emblem called Star Bright (seen above). Generous fans don’t need to do anything in-game to buy the shirt — like some Destiny items — and can simply purchase it off of Bungie’s store for $24.99. Folks interested in picking up the limited-time shirt have from Thursday, Jan. 16 to the morning of Feb. 18 to pre-order.
Bungie said half the profits from the shirt go to the NSW Rural Fire Service, with the other half going to WIRES, a wildlife rescue organization. The Australian wildfires in the state of New South Wales have already devastated the continent’s coast. So far, the fire has killed 28 people and an estimated billion animals. The fire originally started due to a massive heat wave, and is still raging on.
