Observer 2 teased by Bloober Team

Polish game developer has another cyberpunk horror game in the works

The psychological-horror game developer behind Layers of Fear, Observer, and Blair Witch teased a new project on Thursday, with all signs pointing to Observer 2 (or whatever the creators at Bloober Team choose to call the sequel).

On Twitter and YouTube, Bloober Team posted a short teaser video titled “Incoming Call.” The “signature” for that video references Chiron Incorporated, the corporation/governing body featured in the first Observer, and includes a message in binary that reads, “Daniel, are you there?” — seemingly a reference to Daniel Lazarski, the protagonist of that game.

The original Observer was released in 2017 for Linux, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC (a Nintendo Switch port arrived in 2019). The game is set in the year 2084, and players assume the role of a detective, called an Observer, tasked with hacking the minds of criminals and their victims. Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, The Hitcher) voiced Daniel Lazarski in Observer. Hauer died last year at 75.

Bloober has been focusing its efforts on psychological horror games since the release of 2016’s Layers of Fear. If the studio’s prolific pace continues, we could see Observer 2 in 2020.
