The Academy Award-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is set to get a sequel in 2022. If that’s too long a wait, never fear: One cosplayer is recreating the original movie in live-action form via TikTok.
Jenoah Bush — or, as he’s known on TikTok and Instagram, @just_jenoah_ — posts reenactments of scenes from the movie, side by side with the originals. He makes for an uncanny double of the movie’s lead character, Miles Morales. So far on his TikTok, Bush has posted two scene recreations from Into the Spider-Verse (though there are other videos of him cosplaying as Miles): Miles getting ready in the morning to Post Malone’s “Sunflower” and Miles’ dad dropping him off at school.
Miles Morales isn’t the first character Bush has recreated side-by-side scenes for — he’s also done a few as Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls and Bow from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, among others. Cosplay culture thrives on TikTok. Not only do cosplayers recreate scenes from movies and TV, they also lip sync, perform unrelated scenes, and do easily mimicked TikTok challenges in character. TikTok’s duet feature — where two videos from two separate users play in tandem — allows for partnership and rich crossover potential.
Bush’s Spider-Verse cosplays, however, are particularly endearing not just because of the attention to detail (the overflowing backpack! The sneaky scoop of food!), but also because he’s brought both his parents into the mix.
Bush’s videos have even got the attention of Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsey, who called on Twitter for a full live-action TikTok adaptation.
Amazing!!! Okay now we’re not gonna be satisfied until y’all do the whole movie! https://t.co/OOTKPEbIl1
