Call of Duty: Warzone season 6 has just begun and Infinity Ward is already changing things up with a new limited-time game mode. The new mode is called Recon: Armored Royale, and it’s centered around giant armored trucks that come outfitted with turrets and even a portable buy station.
Recon: Armored Royale, is set up similarly to regular Quads matches of Warzone. There are several squads of four players each, and everyone starts with a pistol only, but they can find weapons or buy them from buy stations, and the last team standing is the winner. However, instead of dropping into random areas of the map, every squad in this mode will drop onto their team’s designated armored vehicle.
These vehicles are similar to the cargo trucks in regular Warzone matches, but with some upgrades. For one thing they’re even more heavily fortified than their cargo-carrying cousins thanks to their new armored plating, which gives them lots of extra health. These new armored trucks also have turrets mounted on the back, which players can control, and a custom buy station that can either repair the truck or upgrade it as the match goes on.

These trucks also serve as mobile respawn points for squads that have lost a member. If you die in the mode, you’ll respawn back at your team’s truck as long as it’s safe. Unfortunately, once another team takes out your truck, there won’t be any more respawns for you — there’s no Gulag in Recon: Armored Royale. You can repair your truck using its mobile buy station or by driving it to a gas station, or you can respawn your truck entirely from a regular buy station for a hefty fee.
While trucks may provide a huge advantage, your squad doesn’t necessarily have to have one to win. Since the rules are the same as the regular battle royale mode — the last team standing wins — you could definitely win without your armored truck in Recon: Armored Royale, it’s just a lot harder.
Recon: Armored Royale is part of Call of Duty: Warzone season 6 and is live now. Because this is a limited-time mode it will only be available for a short time, you’ll have to jump in soon.
