Disney’s new ride preview desperately wants you to remember theme parks are still a thing

Avengers Campus was supposed to open up this summer!

This year was supposed to be a big year for Disney theme parks fansDisneyland’s Marvel-themed areas were supposed to open over the summer, Epcot was set to get a first wave of major revamps, and around the world, Disney parks everywhere were going to get new hotels, attractions, and restaurants.

A new video from Disney Parks wants us all to remember that, yes, these revamps will still be happening ... eventually! There are some sneak peeks of the upcoming Ratatouille ride in Orlando, Avengers campus in Anaheim and Paris, the Zootopia-themed land in Shanghai, and more.

Disney theme parks closed their doors back in March, due to growing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. Though locations in Anaheim and Orlando opened back up over the summer, they’ve adopted policies to curtail the spread of coronavirus, including limiting the amount of guests in the parks and requiring masks. It’s uncertain whether the parks will stay open amid the recent surge of coronavirus cases. As for the timeline on the attractions promised in the video, only the Ratatouille ride has an opening date, sometime in 2021. More information is available on the Disney parks blog.

For those excited to return to Disney theme parks but who don’t want to risk the travel, virtual ride throughs are available for most, if not all, Disney theme park attractions. It’s not quite the same feeling of walking down Main Street with your Mickey-shaped ice cream, but perhaps a little safer.
