World of Warcraft turns 16, and players can get free stuff

Reputation, trivia, and a time travel party

World of Warcraft turns 16, and Blizzard is rolling out the usual anniversary event to celebrate. Players who log in will find a package in their mail, which will reward 200 Timewarped Badges, an item that increases experience and reputation gains, and an invitation to Orgrimmar or Stormwind.

This is a great time to level up alts, as each faction has a Historian quest giver in the capital. Historian Llore and Ju’pa will ask a daily Warcraft trivia question that rewards Timewarped Badges and a big chunk of experience. The Historians also have a daily quest to tackle old World Bosses like Lord Kazzak, Azuregos, and one of the four Dragons of Nightmare in order to earn some classic loot for your collection.

Korrak’s Revenge also makes a comeback. This is the original version of Alterac Valley, with some modern tweaks and twists. Players can join up and get experience, as well as earn two new mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram for the Alliance, or the Horde’s Frostwolf Snarler.

The Caverns of Time party, as well as the cosmetic anniversary rewards vendor, are back in the game for players who want to dress up and enjoy the festivities with a soccer tournament, using a mage’s head in a glowing orb for the ball.

World of Warcraft’s anniversary event runs until Nov. 22; the Shadowlands expansion launches right afterwards on Nov. 23.
