I’ll take it

The classic 2D MMORPG, MapleStory, is getting a collaboration with K-pop superstars BTS.

While Nexon has not detailed what the collaboration will entail, there will be content for both the original game on PC and the mobile game, MapleStory M. Leading up to the collaboration, there will be a behind-the-scenes video uploaded once a week for three weeks starting Nov. 25, showing the group working on the collab.

One of the members, Jin, is known for loving the game. He supposedly quit playing MapleStory after he blew up one of his best-in-slot accessories while trying to upgrade it. In the trailer for the upcoming content, he jokingly says he almost visited Nexon HQ when his item blew up.

MapleStory events typically follow a similar pattern, so we can expect the BTS crossover to function the same way: Players will likely have to collect coins through playing the game, where they can use those coins at a special event shop to earn goodies. Most, if not all, special cosmetics that come out of the collaboration will likely be locked behind loot box-style “Premium Surprise Style Boxes.”

This isn’t the first time BTS has appeared in a game collaboration. The group debuted the choreography video for its song “Dynamite” in Fortnite. BTS also has its own games, like BTS World and BTS Universe Story.
