Among Us, the viral hidden-role game that has become a popular pastime on Twitch, is headed to the Nintendo Switch on Dec. 15. The announcement was made Tuesday during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase.

Originally released in 2018, Among Us burst into the public consciousness in 2020 while the world was stuck at home during the ongoing global pandemic. It blends simplified third-person action with social deduction to create an evocative setting. It plays great with more than six players, and even includes loads of collectible cosmetic items. The most recent? A mask that lets players look like The Game Awards’ creator, Geoff Keighley.

What makes Among Us so accessible is the diversity of platforms it’s available on. That includes PC as well as mobile platforms, where the game is actually free-to-play. Nintendo’s hybrid portable console is a natural fit for the game, and has the potential to open the experience up to couch co-op play. Read more about the game on Polygon, where it was named to our list of the top 10 games of the year.
