The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has arrived and ushered in an entirely new Call of Duty: Warzone season as well. While Black Ops Cold War has been updated with new weapons and maps, Warzone went through its biggest shake-up ever: There’s a new map, a totally new arsenal, and even some changes to Verdansk.

Warzone’s new map is called Rebirth Island and it drops players into a smaller, more intense battle royale mode than they may be used to. Rebirth Island is the site of a former Soviet weapons manufacturing plant, and is dotted with dozens of buildings, factories, and small crevices and secrets. Thanks to its small size, Rebirth Island will feature a smaller player count: only 40 players in each match. But its size should also make for faster-paced matches.

As for the new weapons headed to Warzone, Black Ops Cold War players will already be familiar with the expanded arsenal. The latest Black Ops game’s guns are now headed to battle royale — 29 new weapons in Warzone, plus five weapons that are on the way in Black Ops Cold War’s first seasonal battle pass. Players will be able to use all of these weapons in Warzone and earn progress toward unlocking attachments for them, which can be used in any game mode.

Finally, Verdansk is getting a few changes of its own. The biggest update for Warzone’s classic map is a redesigned Gulag. Far from the prison showers of the old map, the new Gulag will have fallen players face off in a smaller version of the classic Black Ops map Nuketown to see which player gets a second chance at battle royale victory.

All of these changes are coming to Call of Duty: Warzone with the arrival of season 1 on Dec. 16. For a look at all the changes coming this season you can check out the full patch notes.
