Final Fantasy 7’s big handsome bad guy, Sephiroth, is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as paid downloadable content on Dec. 22. That’s his official release date, but there’s a way to get access to Sephiroth starting today, Dec. 17, thanks to a limited-time event in Ultimate.

Nintendo Switch owners who pre-order the Sephiroth DLC — either individually or as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 — will get access to a new in-game challenge: a boss battle known as the Sephiroth Challenge. Players who complete that challenge on any difficulty setting (easy, normal, or very hard) will unlock Sephiroth as a playable fighter. They’ll also unlock Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s new stage, Northern Cave, and additional Final Fantasy music tracks — nine new tracks in all.

Challenger Pack 8, which includes Sephiroth, the Northern Cave stage, and new music, can be purchased for $5.99. Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which also includes Steve and Alex from Minecraft, Min Min from Arms, and three unannounced fighters, costs $29.99.

Sephiroth was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate last week at The Game Awards. Also coming to Ultimate are new Mii Fighter costumes based on Final Fantasy 7’s Barrett, Tifa, and Aerith, and Super Mario RPG’s Geno.

Finally, here’s Kirby as Sephiroth.
