Watch Nintendo’s Super Nintendo World theme park direct right here

Mario Kart dreams will soon be a reality

Nintendo will reveal new information about the upcoming Super Nintendo World theme park this evening. At 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST, a 15-minute Nintendo Direct will show some of the new Nintendo-themed areas in Universal Studios Japan.

Nintendo and Universal Studios originally planned on opening the park extension this summer alongside the Tokyo Olympics, but the date was postponed amidst coronavirus concerns. The new land is now set to open doors on Feb. 4, 2021. There will be two main attractions available on opening day, a Mario Kart ride and a ride based on Yoshi’s Adventure.

A sneak peek of the Mario Kart ride — called Koopa’s Challenge — revealed a hybrid ride, a cart on rails which uses an AR headset to augment the experience. The direct may show more about this ride, the Yoshi ride, simply be an infodump about the upcoming theme park.

There will be no game content announced with this Direct. The stream will be available on Nintendo’s YouTube page.
