Hades developer releases 12-hour yule log video for the holidays

A Hades fireplace for your home

For those of us who live in homes without fireplaces, sitting ’round the hearth of a lengthy, looping video on Netflix or YouTube is the next best thing. Thankfully, game developer Supergiant Games has created an all-day yule log based on its hit game Hades — which just so happens to be Polygon’s choice for 2020’s game of the year.

You can enjoy Supergiant’s House of Hades yule log — in 4K no less! — directly from YouTube. It offers 12 hours of uninterrupted crackling animated fire complemented with wreaths of pomegranates and golden skulls. Ambient underworld-ly sounds really help set the mood.

It’s a nice change of pace from the Fireplace for Your Home series available on Netflix — I’m a Birchwood Edition guy, myself — and lovely ambience if you’re playing Hades in handheld mode on your Switch.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something warm and Pokémon-infused, there’s also Charmander’s Fireside Slumber. The Pokémon Company released that ASMR video earlier this year, letting viewers enjoy the soothing sounds of a campfire and Charmander’s inextinguishable tail. (Though Charmander’s Fireside Slumber sounds more like a spreading forest fire than a chill cabin fireplace, which I find less relaxing.)
