Nvidia has created a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077-themed graphics card, but it won’t be sold in stores. All 200 units will either be given away or auctioned off for charity. The first model is up for grabs right now via a sweepstakes that ends Feb. 28.
Nvidia is making a limited edition Cyberpunk graphics card, but you can’t buy one
Only 200 units of the RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition are being produced
The top-of-the-line GPU — called the RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition — is surrounded by a custom aluminum shroud featuring CD Projekt Red’s branding for the upcoming role-playing game. Units also come with a special edition box, which Nvidia says is “perfect for a collector’s shelf.”
Nvidia’s promotion requires that folks use Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook to promote the contest. You’ll also need to use the special #RTXOn hashtag to “say something positive about a fellow gamer,” and tag them on the post.
The partnership between CD Projekt and the PC hardware manufacturer was announced during last year’s E3 along with a fewcontroversial screenshots. Cyberpunk 2077 will be a showcase for Nvidia’s real-time ray tracing technology, while the Polish development house will benefit from the technology company’s engineering expertise.
Following the announcement over the weekend fans began clamoring for a retail version of the card. The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account seems to be hinting something like that might be on the horizon.
I honestly wouldn’t put it past them. The CD Projekt merch game supporting the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 is particularly strong, with an official website that has featured everything from limited-edition metal art prints to statuary and clothing.
Cyberpunk 2077 was recently delayed. The game will now launch Sept. 17, five months later than expected. It will be available on Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
