Door Kickers 2: Task Force North, originally announced in 2016, is still in development. The pauseable real-time tactical title from KillHouse Games went silent for a while, but a new trailer has it set to be released in the second quarter of 2020.
If you miss classic Rainbow Six strategy, Door Kickers 2 will be out this summer
Originally a Steam Greenlight title, the pauseable real-time sequel offers top-down military action
The original Door Kickers launched on Steam around the same time as Breach & Clear, a deceptively similar take on tactical close-quarters action, went live on iOS. But KillHouse’s game went on to receive critical praise and commercial success on Steam, while Breach & Clear did not. Still, many fans worried that the missed launch date in 2016 spelled doom for the title. Turns out that’s not the case. The trailer shows the setting has moved from SWAT-style police encounters to full-fledged military engagements in a fictional Middle Eastern country. The description says it’s entering early access by the end of June 2020.
“True to the violent and dynamic nature of combat in the [Middle East],” says KillHouse on its website, “the game models deadly threats and technologies such as booby traps, suicide bombers, RPGs and concealed insurgents — while handing you new toys such as Light Machine Guns for suppressive fire, drone recoinassance [sic], night vision goggles and wall breaching charges.”
The game now has a Steam page, where you can add it to your wishlist.
