Final Fantasy 14 trailer shows dope reimagined summons as upcoming raid bosses

The patch will launch on Feb. 18

A new Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers trailer showcases a bunch of the new content being added to the game, including the new Eden raid bosses, the Ruby Weapon boss fight, and some snippets of story that have us at the edge of our seats.

It appears that the bosses from the next part of the Eden raids will pit players against reimagined Ramuh, Ifrit, and Garuda, along with some new faces. Ruby Weapon, the difficult boss from Final Fantasy 7, is also making an appearance in the game as part of a side quest line.

The story parts of the trailer are ominous. It looks like Dalamud, the moon that held Bahamut, is coming to crash down on Eorzea yet again. Dalamud has already come down before, causing a massive calamity that required many sacrifices to save humanity, but the pieces of it still remain broken and scattered around Eorzea. This means that a new moon may be coming — though it really does look like Dalamud in the trailer, with Allagan technology sticking out of it and everything. It’s entirely possible that this is a flashback or some kind of immersive show, but it still has us very nervous. At least the gang appears to reunite back with Cid again.

The trailer also showed snippets of content talked about during a livestream with the game’s producer: sea fishing, new gathering mechanics, the Anamnesis Anyder dungeon, and the Qiqirin beast tribe quests. It did not, however, show off the new umbrellas that players can carry.

Patch 5.2 for Final Fantasy 14 will go live on Feb. 18.
