Last year, Virtual Basement and Blue Isle announced their definitely-not-Quidditch game Broomstick League. In a new trailer Thursday morning, the team announced that Broomstick League will arrive on Steam Early Access on March 5. And players interested in trying it out early can sign up on the game’s website for closed beta access, which runs Feb. 6-8.
Based on the name, the game is exactly what you think it should be: aerial, magic sportsball, sans Harry Potter. Players can group up in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 matches. As in soccer or Rocket League, the goal seems to be to grab a neutral ball and throw it through the other team’s portal — the major difference being the broom you ride on.
In addition to chasing the ball and trying to score, players can use their wands to cast spells on themselves or their opponents. Players will fly around unique arenas, and can customize their witch or wizard with new brooms, wands, and dance moves.
It’s unclear how much Broomstick League will cost once it enters early access — no price is listed on the Steam product page.
