Due to some shuffling of the cards in Hollywood, Marvel’s fourth Thor film hits theaters before the third Guardians of the Galaxy flick. But fans of the spacefaring superheroes now have something to look forward to, as Vin Diesel himself revealed the Guardians will make an appearance in Thor 4, also known as Thor: Love and Thunder.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Diesel (who plays tree man Groot) let the news slip during an interview about Bloodshot, his film which is now in theaters.
“I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park,” Diesel said. “He took The Suicide Squad so he’s about to embark on it. Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”
“That’ll be very interesting,” he continued. “Nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”
Expectations are high for Love and Thunder, especially after the wild ride that was Thor: Ragnarok. Fans are already hyped to see Natalie Portman as female Thor, and based on Diesel’s comments, the film will pay off the final scenes of Endgame. The sequel will be directed by Taika Waititi, and reportedly pull from Jason Aaron’s The Mighty Thor run of comics.
Far less is known about the next Guardians of the Galaxy film, which is pegged for some time in 2022. James Gunn is back in the director’s seat, having spent time away from the franchise over a social media controversy. He killed some time making Suicide Squad 2.
