7 trailers that have us hyped this week: Nailed It, What We Do in The Shadows, and the Adventure Time creator’s new show

While movies take a break, TV is coming back in full force

A million movie and television trailers drop online every week, which can make it hard to keep track of what’s actually coming up in theaters and on home screens. To help parse through the endless stream of upcoming movie and TV releases, we’ve assembled a list of the most exciting (and in some cases, weirdest) trailers that came out this week, along with a hype level rating, tracking whether these particular trailers actually excited us about the upcoming product. Afraid you might have missed something? Fear no more.

This week is big for TV, as we get looks at the upcoming seasons of Billions, What We Do in the Shadows, Nailed It, Harley Quinn, and One Day at a Time, as well as the new series The Midnight Gospel and Upload.

The Midnight Gospel

Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time, is back with a trippy, mind-bending new series about exploring the multiverse. While The Midnight Gospel keeps the same zany spirit of Adventure Time, it’s also tailored for adults, so expect more guts, smooching, and swearing in general.

Series release date: April 20 (ha) on Netflix

Hype level: 9. I am only docking a point because this show looks mildly terrifying, but, like, in a cool way.

Billions season 5

Once upon a time, one of my friends told me she, despite knowing it couldn’t possibly be true, thought the name of the protagonist of Billions was “Bobby Billions.” It’s not true, but I still think about it every time I watch Billions. Anyway, season 5 is here, with Corey Stoll in tow.

Series release date: May 3 on Showtime

Hype level: 8. We love Giamatti!

Upload

The basic premise of Office creator Greg Daniels’ new sitcom Upload is that, instead of dying, you can have your consciousness uploaded to a digital world so you live forever. One part of this trailer features a kid who died because he fell into the Grand Canyon, the viral video of which caught him dabbing on the way down. I’m sorry, but that did make me laugh.

Series release date: May 1 on Amazon

Hype level: 6. Isn’t this just Black Mirror but funny?

What We Do in the Shadows Season 2

Usually, trying to fix (or rather, reboot) what ain’t broke is a recipe for a disaster. A rare exception to the rule is the FX series What We Do in the Shadows, which follows the formula of the movie of the same name by Taika Waititi. If anything, the show, given more time to stretch its limbs, is even funnier. The trailer for the second season, which follows a big first season character twist (please watch this show), looks incredible.

Series release date: April 15 on FX

Hype level: 10. This show is just so good.

Nailed It: Season 4

If everyone on your feed is making beautiful baked goods whilst holed up in their homes, but you can’t even make a solid cake from a box (not that I know anything about that from personal experience), you’ll be happy to know that Nailed It is back.

Series release date: April 1 on Netflix

Hype level: 8. I need validation that I’m not the only one who can screw up simple baking instructions.

Harley Quinn: Season 2

The DC adult animated show is getting a new season. In case Birds of Prey left you with more need for Harley, yes, there is an animated show all about her getting revenge on the Joker. The trailer shows off some of the series’ raunchy humor and the budding (ha) relationship between Harley and Poison Ivy.

Series release date: April 3 on DC Universe

Hype level: 7. Don’t we all need more moments of a shark going “Oh! A human vagina!” in our lives now?

One Day at a Time season 4

The sitcom gets a second life after its untimely Netflix cancelation. The Alvarex family is back and navigating life, from Tinder profiles that maybe could be worded better to figuring out family boundaries.

Series release date: March 24 on Pop TV

Hype level: 8. We stan a comeback.
