Watch a full ride-through video of Disney World’s psychedelic new Mickey and Minnie ride

The House of Mouse has built a brand new mouse house

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the first dark ride starring the iconic mouse, opened at Hollywood Studios in Disney World today. On Tuesday night, just before the public opening on March 4, press had the opportunity to preview the ride and collect the first footage of the attraction in its entirety. Those videos quickly flooded YouTube, and y’all, the ride looks magical.

The attraction seems to have more in common with the new technologically elaborate Star Wars rides than many of the dark rides dedicated to other iconic Disney animated characters. The environment mixes 3D animatronics, projection mapping, real sets, and huge high-resolution screens. Guests are transported on a trackless system, similar to the one used on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

The ride lives in the Chinese Theatre at the center of Hollywood Studios in Orlando. Guests of the ride are invited to see the “premiere” of Mickey and Minnie’s latest film, Perfect Picnic, but while watching the movie, something goes amiss and the screen blows up, opening up a portal into the movie world. Wait, does that mean Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is an isekai? The zany cartoon world definitely looks like a fantasy realm.
