Bethesda will not host a digital showcase for its upcoming games in June

With the cancellation of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, and many of the press events that normally happen there, many game developers have planned to show off their upcoming titles on streams and digital presentations instead. However, Bethesda won’t be taking part in even a streaming press conference.

On Wednesday morning, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s senior vice president of global marketing and communications, announced on Twitter that the developer will not be hosting a digital showcase in June. This means that there won’t be any replacement for Bethesda’s usual E3 presentation in that timeframe. In his tweet, Hines did mention that the studio will have news to share sometime in the coming months.

While Bethesda didn’t have any specific plans for a digital press conference, the news that it won’t be presenting any kind of showcase falls in line with many other companies across the industry that have had to cancel events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After GDC was canceled earlier this year, both Sony and Microsoft put together digital presentations to show off the hardware for their upcoming console releases. Meanwhile, id Software and Bethesda canceled the annual QuakeCon event for the first time in its 25 year history earlier this week.

Hines didn’t give any indication about when Bethesda will present new information on its games. During the publisher’s E3 conference in 2018 it announced a new sci-fi RPG called Starfield as well as The Elder Scrolls VI, two games we could get more information on when we hear from Bethesda sometime later this year.
