In February, the anime streaming service Crunchyroll announced it would be debuting a slate of “Crunchyroll Originals,” new anime series produced or co-produced by the company.
A first look at the Crunchyroll Original The God of High School shows off gorgeous animation from the studio MAPPA. The series, based on Yongje Park’s Webtoon manhwa of the same name, focuses on Jin Mo-Ri, a young martial artist in South Korea who enters a tournament called “The God of High School.” As Mo-Ri progresses through the tournament, he encounters many other fighting styles, as well as fighters possessing mystical powers.
The manhwa is still ongoing since its debut in 2011, meaning there’s plenty of material for the new anime to pull from, and it’s been adapted into multiple mobile games as well.
The series is set to debut on Crunchyroll in July. If that’s too long to wait, you can check out the original manhwa on Webtoon.
