On Tuesday, Bungie launched a new weapon quest in Destiny 2. It’s called “The Lie,” and both the name and data mines suggest it will lead people back to a beloved weapon from the original Destiny, the Felwinter’s Lie shotgun. But before players can get their hands on the new/old weapon, the Warmind Rasputin has a big ask: 9,000,000 Seraph Tower public events divided among three planets.
The first step of the new quest has players meet with NPC vendor Ana Bray on Mars. Ana then tells the Guardians that, for data purposes, the giant Russian computer god needs Guardians to complete 3,000,000 Seraph Tower public events on Io, the Moon, and the EDZ. Thankfully, Destiny fans have an entire community to rely on here.
This seems to be an evolution from Bungie’s recent stab at community events. Last year, prior to the fall expansion, Bungie offered a new emblem to any players who participated in events on Mars over a few weeks. Bungie tasked players with defeating Strike bosses, killing Hive enemies, and completing Seraph Tower public events on the planet.
For the Mars community event, players got a free emblem and some bonus loot from last summer’s seasonal activity, The Menagerie. But this time, Bungie is upping the game by gating a fan-favorite weapon behind millions of Seraph Tower public events. This quest will likely take fans a few days to complete across the game’s four different platforms.
If you’re curious to see how far the community is into Rasputin’s community event, the quest from Ana tracks “The Lie’s” progress. Once players complete the public events, Rasputin will have some other quest steps and missions to send them on.
