Apex Legends got its brand new season 5 PvE event on Tuesday ... sort of. The event that was supposed to kick off the new seasonlong quest is being hampered by server outages that appear to be keeping players from starting the event.
The mission lives in a separate matchmaking queue that players can select and then match into. However, when you try to start the mission, the game gets stuck in an endless loop of “matchmaking” and then “starting server,” and the mission never actually begins.
While it’s not clear if everyone is experiencing the same issues, the Apex Legends subreddit is filled with complaints from players who can’t start the mission. However, it appears that Respawn Entertainment is well aware of the network issues, and that they’re affecting all aspects of the game on all platforms. The developer tweeted an acknowledgment of the connection problems almost an hour after the mission launched, and said that it was looking into possible fixes. For now, there’s no word on when the mission, or Apex Legends’ servers overall, will be fixed and working again.
Heads up, Legends: We are aware of and investigating connectivity issues impacting Apex across all platforms. We will continue to update you here as we have more information.

Thankfully, there will be plenty of time to get this mission done before the next one unlocks. Only one mission in “The Broken Ghost” quest line will be released each week, and the missions will continue for the rest of the season. This first mission is available to any player that collected five Treasure Packs — or at least, it will be when it’s working. The next mission will go live next Tuesday, May 26.
