HBO Max, the new streaming service from WarnerMedia, is launching later this month, and we now know its app is coming to game consoles. WarnerMedia announced on Wednesday morning that HBO Max will have streaming apps for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 available when the service launches on May 27.

HBO Max will bring together content from HBO as well as the wider WarnerMedia archive. This includes shows like South Park, Rick and Morty, and The Boondocks, as well as the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series that will focus on the Targaryen dynasty, and all of the Studio Ghibli movies. The service will cost $14.99 a month, but will be included for anyone already subscribed to HBO Now.

The service making its way to game consoles should come as no surprise, since HBO Now and HBO Go both have apps on the platforms already. In fact, according to a study from Strategy Analytics (via 9to5Google) conducted last year, Sony and Microsoft game consoles are some of the most popular streaming devices in the United States.

HBO Max will be coming to more than just game consoles when it launches. On Wednesday, WarnerMedia also announced that the app would be available on Samsung Smart TVs as well. WarnerMedia had previously announced HBO Max for more traditional streaming platforms such as iOS, Android, Android TV, Apple TV, and Chromecast.
