Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

During Thursday’s Inside Xbox, Bandai Namco revealed its new action RPG game: Scarlet Nexus. You play as Yuito Sumeragi, a young member of the Other Suppression Force (OSF). The OSF exists to exterminate The Others — bizarre mutants made out of metal frames, flesh, and flowers.

The trailer focuses mainly on the game’s colorful “Brain Punk” world, showing off several monster designs and a few members of OSF. But the trailer also gives a brief look at some of Scarlet Nexus’ gameplay.

Yuito wields a sword, which he can throw around battle arenas and control with his mind. He can also use his powers of psychokinesis to lift heavy objects and throw them at enemies. At one point, he breaks open a box of construction girders and uses them to attack a room full of enemies. We also see him fight a few bosses, including a giant alligator with a minigun in its mouth.

Scarlet Nexus is a new franchise, but members behind the beloved Tales of role-playing games, including Tales of Vesperia, are leading the project.

Bandai Namco and Microsoft didn’t reveal a release window for Scarlet Nexus. But it will come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and includes the console’s new Smart Delivery feature.
