Sony held a “Future of Gaming” digital event this year, in which the company revealed an apparent LittleBigPlanet spinoff starring our favorite cloth protagonist. Sackboy: A Big Adventure seems to be a 3D platforming game that can be enjoyed by up to 4 players.
No level-creation tools were shown off, so the focus might be more on curated experiences than those offered by LittleBigPlanet. We also don’t know what the release date or window for this new experience yet.
The PlayStation 5 is set to launch in holiday 2020 with a newly revamped controller. In terms of innards, the console will have more efficient hardware processing power that outstrips what is offered by the PS4. Sony’s upcoming hardware also will also be packed with a solid-state drive, which allows the PS5 to have better loading times plus faster generation of environments.
The PS5 will also allow for real-time ray tracing, and will display games at 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second. Sony also hopes to provide a better audio experience on the platform. Finally, the next PlayStation will be fully backward-compatible with the PS4, with Sony promising that most of the top 100 games on the previous platform will be playable.
