During Friday’s Nintendo Treehouse broadcast, Nintendo is expected to reveal a new game from Shantae and the Seven Sirens developer WayForward. The presentation will also showcase gameplay from Paper Mario: The Origami King, which will be released on July 17 on Nintendo Switch.
“Check out gameplay of the upcoming game #PaperMario: The Origami King tomorrow 7/10 at 10am PT on #NintendoTreehouseLive | July 2020,” the company tweeted from the Nintendo of America account on Thursday. “Plus, we’ll feature a first reveal and gameplay title in a franchise new to developer WayForward.”
The next game in the Paper Mario franchise was announced on May 14.

An hour later, amid speculation that WayForward may be working on a Wario or Metroid game, Nintendo tweeted a clarifying statement: The game from WayForward is not a Nintendo franchise — it’s “based on a third-party property.” Beyond this statement, Nintendo’s given no indication of what the game could be.
The Nintendo Treehouse presentation will begin at 1 p.m. EST on YouTube.
