The action game is still shrouded in mystery

Developer PlatinumGames offered a brief update on the development of Babylon’s Fall, the action game it’s making for Square Enix, assuring fans that the title is still in development. Platinum and Square Enix say they plan to share more about Babylon’s Fall “as soon as we can.”

In December, Platinum and Square Enix promised to share more details about Babylon’s Fall sometime this summer. Little is known about the game, but the joint statement says Babylon’s Fall “is continuing to progress well, with the team working safely from home” and that both companies “are committed to delivering an exhilarating experience.”

Babylon’s Fall was announced in 2018 at E3 for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC with a 2019 release date. Square Enix showed more of the game in action at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s State of Play presentation in December 2019.

PlatinumGames and Square Enix’s statement is reassuring, especially after two high-profile projects from Platinum — Scalebound and Granblue Fantasy: Relink — fizzled out at the developer. Earlier this year, Platinum re-released its Wii U action game The Wonderful 101 and announced a new title, codenamed Project G.G., helmed by game director Hideki Kamiya.
