Thursday’s Xbox Games Showcase showed off a host of first-party titles, including a new entry in the zombie-fighting, base-building survival series State of Decay from Undead Labs. The trailer for State of Decay 3 showed a woman moving through the woods with her trusty crossbow, dealing with a natural ecosystem gone terribly wrong.

We don’t know much about the gameplay of State of Decay 3 yet, but the reveal trailer did show off a zombie deer.

The original State of Decay was released in 2013 for Xbox 360. The sequel came to Xbox One in 2018. State of Decay 2 updated several times throughout its lifespan, including the narrative focused Heartland campaign and the Juggernaut Edition, which gave the game more open-world content and a series of graphics upgrades. In a conversation with Polygon last year, developer Undead Labs stated an intention to continue building on the sandbox elements of the game.

Microsoft acquired State of Decay developer Undead Labs in 2018.

State of Decay 3 will come to the Xbox Series X and Windows PC, and will be available through Xbox Game Pass.
