Developed by Mediatonic, Fall Guys was released on Aug. 4 and quickly became one of the most popular games online. Its hilarious brand of battle royale action dominated Twitch, pulling in most of the top streamers for a least a few matches, and shot to the top of Steam’s sales charts. But it wasn’t just the early excitement that had people playing. As of this writing, Fall Guys is currently the fourth most played game on Steam with over 165,000 players in-game vying for the crown.
Fall Guys’ incredible success on PlayStation Plus shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The service has always been a great place for smaller indie games to get noticed, much like Rocket League when it was released back in 2015. But what is surprising is that Fall Guys made it to the top of PS Plus’ all-time list, which includes some very well-known games.
According to an infographic released by Sony, as of April 2020, the top five most downloaded PlayStation Plus games are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Shadow of the Colossus, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Destiny 2, and — curiously — Sonic Forces.
Despite the game’s massive popularity, Mediatonic isn’t wasting any time in letting players know what’s next for Fall Guys. According to a tweet from Geoff Keighley, Mediatonic will reveal Fall Guys season 2 on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Gamescom.
