Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now on PlayStation 4 — where it’s free as part of a PlayStation Plus subscription — and Windows PC via Steam. Thanks to Fall Guys’ popularity on Twitch and its availability as a PS Plus freebie, developer Mediatonic’s battle royale-style party game is becoming one of the biggest games of the summer.
But many players have wondered whether Fall Guys will come to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or other platforms, like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
According to Mediatonic’s own FAQ for Fall Guys, the game will only be available on PS4 and Steam at launch.
“We’d love to bring the game to other platforms further down the line,” the developer said. “Please let us know on Twitter and Discord which platforms you’d like us to release on next—we’d love to see how much demand there is!”
If Fall Guys follows the release pattern of another multiplayer hit that debuted on PlayStation Plus, Rocket League, it will take a while before the 60-player game comes to Xbox or Switch. Rocket League was first released on PS4 and PC via PS Plus in July 2015. An Xbox One version followed in February 2016, while the Switch version dropped in November 2017.
As for next-generation consoles, here’s how Fall Guys’ creators responded to a request for a PS5 version of the game.
“We don’t have anything to confirm just yet, but if we were to announce anything in future, we’d do it via our Twitter and Discord channels!” the developers said during a Reddit AMA.
Sony has reportedly mandated that PS4 games released as of July 2020 be compatible with PS5, so it seems likely that Fall Guys will be on PS5 via backward compatibility when the system launches this holiday.
We’ll update this post if and when Fall Guys is announced for Switch or Xbox.
