Ubisoft’s Gods and Monsters is now Immortals Fenyx Rising, coming Dec. 3

The game’s new trailer showed off some Zelda-like action

In 2019, Ubisoft announced Gods and Monsters, a new game from the makers of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. A little over a year later, Gods and Monsters is back with a new name and a fresh gameplay trailer. Gods of Monsters is now Immortals Fenyx Rising, and it’s coming to PC as well as current and next-gen consoles on Dec. 3.

The trailer shows off some of the same monsters we saw during its reveal last year, inspired by Greek myth. But this time, the trailer shows off some gameplay. Immortals looks to take heavy inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a cartoonish look, open-world gameplay, and puzzle solving.

Polygon’s preview of Gods and Monsters in 2019 said the game so closely resembled Nintendo’s most recent Zelda game that “I’m still not sure if I just witnessed a game demo or an act of grand larceny.” The game has since differentiated itself, by looks of the gameplay trailer, incorporating more Assassin’s Creed-esque aspects into the gameplay, like combat skills.

This name change and demo comes a few months after a playable build of Immortals Fenyx Rising accidentally found its way onto Stadia.

Ubisoft will launch Immortals Fenyx Rising on Dec. 3 for Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Immortals Fenyx Rising will get an exclusive Google Stadia demo prior to launch.
