Since 2016, the Game Devs of Color Expo has been a celebration and showcase of the work of game developers who are Black, Latinx, or from other marginalized racial backgrounds. For 2020, the annual convention has moved online, with new game announcements, panels, playable demos, and even a Steam sale. Here’s how to watch or attend — or watch and attend — Game Devs of Color Expo 2020.
New game announcements
The folks behind GDoCExpo kicked off the weekend with an Indie Games Showcase on YouTube, which you can watch above. The GDoCExpo Direct puts a bunch of trailers and announcements from featured developers in one place.
Panels
GDoCExpo has a full two-day slate of panels, including presentations, talks, and interviews. You can find the full schedule of events on the conference’s website. Tickets are available on Eventbrite, for $5-$10, or even less based on need and with the completion of a brief registration form.
Playable demos and a Steam sale
This year, from Saturday, Sept. 19, through Monday, Sept. 21, GDoCExpo will be taking over the front page of Steam, with an event called Gradient Convergence. The display will offer exclusive interviews with developers, tons of demos, discounted games, and sneak peeks at upcoming titles featured at GDoCExpo 2020.
