For a while there, at the beginning of the pandemic, Nintendo’s Ring Fit Adventure — a fitness role-playing game with its own specific hardware — was sold out everywhere. There was, indeed, a shortage likely related to how many people were now attempting to exercise at home, without access to gym equipment.
Ring Fit Adventure is largely back in stock now. (Now we’re at the pepperoni shortage stage of the pandemic.) But if you still haven’t been able to get your hands on one, there’s a new option: getting the Ring Con in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Sure, you can’t do anything with it. But sometimes it’s just that burst of serotonin — something new, and for free! — that matters.
All Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will get a Ring Con for free when they download the fall update that’s coming on Sept. 30.

Nintendo announced the Halloween and fall-themed update on Friday morning. The eagerly-anticipated update is bringing pumpkin farming (!!!), candy, and Halloween costumes. Of course, there will also be plenty of pumpkin and autumnal decorations to go around, too.
Likewise, Nintendo also announced that it’s restocking the New Horizons-themed Nintendo Switch console and producing a new wave of Animal Crossing amiibo cards.
