On Monday, Activision announced plans to offer a free preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s various Zombies modes. Starting on Thursday, Jan. 14, players can download a stand-alone version of the Cold War’s Zombies’ menu from Battle.net, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network. Players can then play Zombies modes for free until Jan. 21, when they’ll need to purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in order to continue their undead hunts.

The free access includes multiple Zombies’ game types, depending on platform. All Zombies players can experience the game’s launch map, Die Maschine, which expands the very first Call of Duty Zombies map from World at War. Players can also test out Cranked, which adds a timer to Zombies, forcing players to kill monsters within the time limit or risk them exploding.

The Onslaught mode is also available during the free access period. However, Onslaught is currently a PlayStation exclusive, so only players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 can check it out. Onslaught is a two-player Zombies mode that forces players to kill enemies in a specific area of the map before moving on.

Free access players can play online with strangers or friends until their access period ends.
