Fortnite concerts may be our musical future

Getting a beer spilled on you is now optional

As we continue another year into the pandemic, we are still looking for new experiences to keep us busy in lockdown. I’m a huge fan of going to concerts, and the pandemic ruined that part of my life. That is, until I learned that artists were performing their music online. Still, it felt like something was missing. The interactivity was gone from the whole process of watching an artist perform.

That's why, when I heard that Travis Scott was going to have a performance in Fortnite, I scoffed. Turns out, I was wrong! Video game concerts are actually pretty cool. Check out Polygon’s new video to learn why artists like Anamanaguchi and Dillon Francis have started to reach out to their fans via digital worlds during this time.

“It felt a little cringy for me to ask people to do an emote,” Francis told Polygon. “Because just saying that feels weird.”
