We don’t know very much about Resident Evil Village, and we won’t learn more until the upcoming reveal event on Jan. 21. But we did get a brief glimpse of the new game, and it included a nine foot tall vampire woman with an amazing hat and a sinister grin.
She definitely seems like the game’s bad guy, or a persistent boss of some kind. She looks like the equivalent of Jack, the mad dad from Resident Evil 7, or Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 remake. Mr. X was an excellent boss, and fans delighted in modding him into all sorts of fun things like Thomas the Tank Engine and the goose from Untitled Goose Game. Fans also took great joy in shipping Mr. X with Leon.
The vampire lady is already inspiring fans, despite only being on screen for a fraction of a minute. She’s certainly much more fabulous than emotive than Mr. X, which is exciting.

This gigantic woman is a hit, and people can’t wait for her to crush them under her heel. She’s not the only big character in Resident Evil Village, however. Chris Redfield, series veteran, is back in the game. For those who are wondering, he’s larger than ever.
I have no idea what’s going on with Village, why Ethan is here, why Chris is so hostile, and how this vampire lady figures into it. It’s all quite chaotic, and these bold decisions make the game look intriguing. We’ll find out more about Village during the publisher showcase on Jan. 21.
