The update enhancing God of War, the 2018 PlayStation 4 title, for PlayStation 5, will be available on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The free patch adds a new menu option that gives PS5 players 60 frames-per-second performance with 4K resolution.

Players can stick with the standard, “Original Performance Experience” settings, which still delivers 4K checkerboard-rendered resolutions, but synchronized to 30 fps. The enhanced performance mode gives players 2160p resolution at 60 fps.

God of War is playable on PlayStation 5 via the console’s backward compatibility support. This makes the game effectively a free upgrade.

God of War is also included in the 20-game PlayStation Plus Collection, the package of downloadable titles that PlayStation 5 owners are entitled to with their purchase. The collection requires a PlayStation Plus subscription to access, but can only be claimed by those with one of the new consoles — and they’ve been hard to come by, naturally.
