It’s Friday, Friday, getting down on Friday!

Yes, it’s really been 10 years since Rebecca Black’s “Friday” took the internet by storm.

To celebrate, the singer released an anniversary remix of the song featuring artists like 3OH!3, Big Freedia, and Dorian Electra. In case you haven’t kept up with her moment of viral fame in 2011, Black successfully turned a burst of YouTube fame into a music and vlogging career. (And her newest single “Girlfriend” really slaps.)

“Friday”’s viral fame was a complete accident. A young Black performed the song with ARK Music, a production company known for churning out songs and produces low-budget, quick-turnaround music videos. After landing on a Tosh.0 blog post, the song went viral in March 2011. It was almost universally hated. But honestly, a decade later, we as a society need to evaluate why we bullied a teenage girl for performing an incredibly catchy song just for funsies.

Rebecca Black has fully reclaimed the song, though, and this 10th anniversary remix is everything bright and poppy about the original with some added 2k21 pizzaz.
